How does a fiber artist, ex-quilter, get involved with moldy products from the earth? Easy - just have friends who can't stand to keep their talents to themselves! Back in Ruidoso since 1997, I became a member of the RaRa's (Ruidoso Art by Ruidoso Artists) and worked in my natural field of fiber. BUT - some of our group took a few gourd classes and infected a few more of us with the great gourd experience. What a satisfying "high" to look at a blank gourd and try to decide what it will be when it grows up!! I prefer natural colors of the earth and have pretty much stuck to that in my gourd art. However - that is not to say that someday I may stray and start using other techniques as well. I have combined fiber work with gourds and that too, is very satisfying. Happy to be a member of the NMGS and happy to be creating.
